Deeksha Mahila Welfare Society is emerged as an effort of a few socially sensitive people who came from different backgrounds, charged with the vision of working with the vulnerable sections of the society and addressing issues giving rise to such vulnerabilities. In this context, marginalized formers ,children and women became the core focus areas of the organization since 1998. DMWS has been working extensively in the district covering the rural and tribal population at one end and professionals, administrative agencies, Govt. officials and legislators at the other end. Since marginalized has been the major focus right from its inception, DMWS has concentrated its energies and resources on the empowerment of the poorest of the poor, facilitating them to realize their hidden potential and consequently become self-sufficient. With seventeen successful years of operation DMWS today is recognized as one of the front ranking NGOs of Vizianagaram district working in the field of marginalized community. DMWS has been consistently approached for partnership, alliance, orientation and training. Today the organization has a deep-rooted understanding and experience in various fields such as Community Based Rehabilitation, with special focus on women and children, micro-credit, promoting and strengthening People’s Organizations, Child Rights, sustainable, agriculture financial literacy and many more.
Target area: The target area of DMWS is Vizanagaram district in Andhra Pradesh. Target area is a very backward and drought affected one. The main occupation of the people is agriculture. The whole area is fully affected with drought and is completely dry. People depend upon rains for their cultivation.
Target people: DMWS focused communities are predominantly rural and urban poor communities, living in Vizanagaram, Parvateepuram districts in Andhra Pradesh. Primary focus is on the Scheduled Caste and the Schedule Tribe communities and then comes all economically backward communities from all castes.
The founder of DMWS Mrs. L.Santhi hails from poor community and dedicated her entire life for noble cause of poor. She had completed her Post graduation in sociology. The synchronization of her skills and developmental background provided a sharp upward-turn for the organization through the community development mode.
